Statement to Members of the Hounslow, Brentford & Isleworth Association

Dear Member

As you undoubtedly know by now, our Prime Minister has called a snap General Election on 8th June 2017.  The election has been called to enable the Conservative Government to have a strong majority and to prevent opposition political parties blocking the Prime Minister's mandate on Brexit. With the polls at a high for the Conservative Party, she states this snap election will enable her to "get the job done and to give the country a strong stable majority it demands". She further stated in her speech: "This is the only way to guarantee certainty and stability for our country."

Here in Brentford & Isleworth, we have the opportunity to overturn the very slim Labour majority of 465 at the 2015 election and make this a Conservative seat again - and we have the team and the resolve to do this.

Our first priority will be the selection of a Parliamentary Candidate and we have already received expressions of interest from several prospective candidates.  We will manage the selection process as rapidly as possible so that a shortlist of candidates is created and the successful candidate selected by eligible members of the Brentford & Isleworth Conservative Association. We will keep you fully informed about this process so that you can participate in the selection of, what I am certain will be, the next MP for Brentford & Isleworth.

As we get closer to the election we will be calling on you, our members, to support us through campaigning activities and with financial contributions and I very much hope you will be able to assist us.

 Kind regards,

Julian Tanner – Chairman, Brentford & Isleworth Conservative Association
